What is Skinnyfat?

Skinnyfat is a term we coined when we had our body fat measured and found out that though we both maintain a normal body weight and look “skinny”, we both have unusually high body fat percentages, high enough to categorize us as obese. We learned a great lesson from the experience: just because a person is skinny doesn’t mean they’re healthy, and vice versa. In fact, someone you may think is “fat” may actually be very muscular and have a lower body fat percentage than you! It was a huge wake up call and motivated us to get healthy and share our journey with all of you!

But that was just the beginning. As we spent more time cooking, baking, and blogging, we realized that “Skinnyfat” defines more than just a body type – it defines our food! We are passionate about creating food that is both healthy and delicious; in other words, food that tastes like it should make you fat but actually makes you skinny! Now, instead of focusing on what foods we can’t eat and what workouts we have to do to get skinnier, we focus on the healthy foods we love to eat and workouts that make us feel rejuvenated and energized.

Though we’ve both defined ourselves at one point or another as vegetarian or vegan, we no longer adhere to either diet exclusively.  We’re advocates of a plant-based diet and believe that the best and most delicious foods a person can eat come from the ground. Whole foods: namely fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

Embrace the Skinnyfat within you and make plants tasty!
